A good day!!!

What an AWESOME day!

As most parents know... kids are tough! The twins are getting so mobile, it is driving us bonkers. I can not tell you how many times in one day we have to yell at the boys, "NO" for hitting the television or something of the sort. Anyway... needless to say, things have been crazy! But today.... today was a good day!

It started off with David getting the boys out of bed, and we got them up and had breakfast. I took the boys to the splash pad, which was SUPER entertaining! It was a little cooler than I thought. I started the water, while the boys were crawling around. They enjoyed it for a bit (like 2 minutes), and then I think Connor got cold. I held Connor, but Skyler was having WAY too much fun, and I couldn't end it. So Connor and I stood close by and watched Skyler chase the water spouts. The spouts rotate, so when one would turn off, Skyler would listen and look for the next one, and jet on over to it. And I am not saying he would just sit by it, he was full on, under it, like he was taking a shower. He made me laugh SO hard. I was mad I didn't have the camera :(

This outing was then followed up by a 2 hour nap... need I say more! Then lunch and the grocery store, where I found avocados for $.50. Connor has decided that now that I WANT him to eat finger foods, he doesn't want to. SUPER picky, SUPER annoying, and he once liked avocados when Papa and Grandma Teresa brought us like 30. We came back and then a 1 hour nap. Then dinner... the struggle of my life with Connor... who ate like 1/3 of the avocado and 2 vienna sausages! David had to go up to Cedar to fulfill his son/grandson-ly duty, leaving me with the kids. Not a big deal at all, but I was alone with them for the rest of the night... a whole... 2 hours :)

I decided that before the kids would go to bed, I would try to find some church clothes because anything that fits Skyler around the waist is too long, and anything that fits Connor around the waist are floods. So I left the kids in the front room briefly while I went and surveyed the clothes status, when..... I hear..... laughing, not from one, but from BOTH of the kids at the same time. This surprised me to hear both of them, so I went out and saw my boys totally playing together, and laughing. From the pictures you can see they were playing around the excersaucer. One would be in the saucer, the other would be out playing Peek-A-Boo (their version at least). Then they would both be in, and then one out and one in! This went on for about 5-10 minutes! So awesome, I loved it!

Now they are both in bed asleep, and it is my turn to sleep in tomorrow!

Since I am posting I thought I would add a few more pictures!

For our anniversary we went down to Vegas (we were there anyway for some other stuff) and got a hotel. My mom (Grandma Carma) brought the boys over in the morning along with my brother and 3 boys and my bro-in-law and 1 of his boys. We all went swimming... super fun. Anyway, this is a picture of my mom and the boys. I took like 5 pictures and I found it funny that the ONE where both boys were looking... my mom wasn't!

This is the type of stuff I am dealing with here!

David had to leave town for a day for work, and the boys missed him. When he got home that night he went to check on the boys, Connor instinctively knew David was in the room I guess and woke up. He got to spend a little one-on-one daddy time before going back to bed.

10 months old

TEN MONTHS
Can you believe it?

The boys are ten months old today. This has been a very fun month. We went to Hatch for the first time with the boys for the 4th of July (blog posted below), took the boys swimming bunch. They both love the water, and are getting used to being dunked. I do a little mini lesson with them each time we go. They are both on the move all the time, and never go in the same direction. They are into EVERYTHING, except their toys. They are both learning so much about what is going on around them. They are SO observant.

I took the boys to get their pictures taken and was suckered into buying the CD. Anyway, I am a little disappointed because there weren't a whole lot of good ones on there. My kids are usually SOO happy, but get a stranger with a camera, and it is the total opposite :(

I took the boys to an expo thing, and got these cute pictures taken, and of course, they would NOT cooperate :( But they are still cute. Skyler wouldn't stop crying so he had to keep his cracker.

SKYLER

• Army crawls
• Has 2 bottom teeth
• Can mimic us (head shake, clap, tongue blowing, nose snorting, etc.)
• Pulls himself up on furniture
• Likes to sit on the step
• Goes up on his hands and feet and looks at his feet (in picture above)
• Recognized his name
• Loves finger foods
• Likes to go swimming and enjoys any form of water
• Steels Connor's toys and then as Connor tries to get it back, he teases him by switching hands around. Sad but entertaining to watch
  

CONNOR

• Recognizes his name and "no" (whether or not he obeys is a different story)
• Master crawler
• Stands and walks with help of furniture
• Can stand for a millisecond on own
• Is the pickiest eater
• Has 3 bottom teeth and fangs on top
• Tries to climb up stuff
• Likes water and the pool
• Likes to be thrown up in the air
• Crawls to and reaches for us when we enter a room after he hasn't seen us for a while
  

As for David and me, not a whole lot. We are both still running. I am proud to announce that I ran more than David AGAIN this month. Even with my back problems, and basically cutting my miles in half. I topped off the month at 26 miles. Sad that 15 of them were in the first week of July alone:( I will continue to do low miles and pilates until my back gets stronger and I have more time to run as well. Right now David is training for the marathon, so that is more important, and I am waiting for it not to be so HOT!!! I have scrapped the idea of the half marathon in September, and hoping to do one in November. David got a promotion at work, so we are SUPER excited about that! David had to go up to Salt Lake City for the interview, and was gone for a day. When he got back the boys attacked him, and that is the picture above. David and I will also be celebrating our 4th anniversary on Aug. 6th. We will actually be doing something to celebrate this year (thanks mom)!!

4th of July

We had such a fun time for the 4th of July, I thought I would post it. I know this makes 2 posts within a week, so if you know me, and only check once a month... because that is all I post... please see below for their 9 month post :) We had the whole family at the cabin. I didn't get any pictures, but Jen and my mom did, so I will get some from them, or maybe Jen will post some later.

We started off with breakfast at the park where we got to see a lot of distant relatives and old friends. Then we made our way to the parade where Skyler fell asleep. The Hatch town parade consists of a fire truck, a couple of souped up cars, a tractor and about 15 kids riding bikes pulling tin cans behind them. The ALL throw candy, and my family made out like bandits. Then we went to the carnival (by now both kids were asleep) where they had foot races for all ages, Kade and Kale competing in the picture above. When the boys finally woke up we took them to the swings and put them both in the same swing at the same time. They had such a ball I had to take pictures. We ended the day with a beautiful firework display worthy of a Las Vegas debut. We all kinda sat around in the backs of cars until it started. This was WAY past our kids bedtime. In the car we have David with Connor, Cassie with Skyler, and in the middle are Kade and Matt. The boys really liked the fireworks too.

Fun little story: Right before we got up to the cabin I called my brother to see what was going on, or if we needed to bring anything. Well he told me he was on his way to the Panguitch hospital because he was in a motorcycle accident. I asked what happened and he said he was hit by an antelope. I totally did not believe him (with good reason my mom said), and then I felt totally bad when I found out it was true. Needless to say he was pretty banged up with 3 broken ribs, and like 4 separated ones and plenty of bruises and road rashes. He was pretty cool about it, and we all thought it was funny.

On Saturday I went for a run with Kristy and we did well, and had fun. After I was holding one of the boys and bent down to pick something up, and in the process I totally messed up my back. I couldn't even pick up the kids the rest of the day. Today I feel better, but I think I am going to take a break from running for a few days.

Also, a couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to meet up with David's brother, Randy's family. We had a lot of fun with them and went to the new pool. It was fun to see them growing up (they live in Wisconsin, so we don't get to see them very often). David and Randy hit golf balls in a driving contest, off the back yard and into the ravine or mountain behind our house. In the picture are Elizabeth, Rebekah, Alan, Joshua, Skyler, Connor and Joshua.

9 MONTHS OLD

The boys are now 9 months old and virtually UNSTOPPABLE!!! I always thought that children were supposed to develop, advance and learn at the same rate, and it took my TWINS to totally prove me wrong. You would think that if ANY two kids should develop the same, it would be twins, right..... WRONG!!!! Our boys are so totally different, it isn't even funny... well actually it is.

First lets start with the similarities: They are both crawling, or scooting, both like hand clappers as their toy of choice. They both talk a lot, both like the water, love to smile and laugh, steal each other toys, and other baby's toys. Oh.... side bar... I have learned that twins are really good about getting their toys taken away, they don't care if I do, dad does it, brother, or anybody. But the problem is, they have no sense of territory, so they will just go and take somebody else's toy. I think I might have two kleptos on my hands! They also are both interested in their surroundings. Both Connor and Skyler are now reaching for us to pick them up, which is kinda cool. Oh, and they both are starting on the separation anxiety stuff, along with jealousy over my attention, and it is driving me BONKERS!

Now for Skyler... Skyler is still just the happiest little boy, He got his 2 bottom teeth this month. He learned how get into the sitting position by himself. He loves books, he always goes for books on the ground, and loves to be read to and flipping the pages. He is kind of starting to give me hugs. Skyler learned how to clap last month, and this month he learned how to do it on demand, we either say, "clap, clap, clap" or "Yeah" very enthusiastically and he will clap. He interacts with me a little more than Connor, who is always on the go. Skyler is starting to learn how to pick up finger food and put it in his mouth.

Connor is so interested in everything around him. He wants to know how it all works. He is fascinated by handles and such. He wants to know if he pulls on it, what will happen. He is constantly opening drawers and cupboards, draining the tub when he takes a bath, and other stuff. He is also doing very well with finger foods (the little puffs, not quite ready for adult food yet), and getting them to his mouth. He pulls himself up on everything and anything he can, and even tries to climb it if he can. In the last few days he has started to crawl up on his knees. Oh, and he is FINALLY getting hair, not much to brag about though. He still loves his walker, but has started to loose interest in the jumper... for the time being. He is finally sitting up on his own now!

Both of the boys fell asleep in the funniest positions the other day, so I had to share



I also feel the need to gloat that I ran more miles than David in the month of June. I topped off the month with 52.8 miles and David had 48.52. This is for you Londi

My cousin Londi posted a picture from a book of a sea turtle that she thought was pretty cool, and it TOTALLY was. I really like turtles, especially sea turtles. I took this picture when David and I were in Hawaii in October of 2005. I just thought she might like to see this, as well as anybody else, because let's face it.... its a pretty cool picture. Oh and I am sure David would love for me to add that off to the left of the photo was a surfer girl sunbathing. He really wanted a picture of that, but I wouldn't let him :( I really hope to make it back there some day, it was so beautiful, just a different atmosphere all together.

Happy Father's Day

Well, I browsed a couple different people's blogs today now that I have my list on here (yipee, finally, way overdue) Anyway, I noticed a lot of people did stuff for Father's day, so I just thought I would wish my hubby a Happy Father's Day! He loves the kids so much, and he is getting to enjoy them more now that they are a little more interactive.



Connor crawls everywhere, pulls himself up to stand on everything. Falls and bonks his head on the floor, or whatever. He has quite a few marks to prove it! Today he made me laugh SO hard. We bought a little walker for the boys to stand in. I will use it when I am in the kitchen. They haven't been too interested in it the month we have had it, but the last few days Connor has really taken to it. Well, Connor walked over to the trash can and bumped it into the open kitchen. He would back up, and RUN full force into the trash can to make it move 2-3 feet, once his momentum stopped, he would back up and do it again. He did this 4-5 times until the trash can hit Sklyer who was innocently crawling around. It was SO funny.



Skyler finally had a tooth break through today. He is getting really into books. He loves to look and them and to be read to. He also loves the water. When I give the boys a bath, I bathe them together, but if there isn't anybody around to help once they are done, I will just drain the water, get one out and let the other play in the empty tub while I get the other ready for bed. I figure it is about the same as them being in a play pen or something. Anyway, I pulled Connor out first because he was pulling himself up to stand in the tub, and would slip, and slide down the side of the tub, quite entertaining to watch, but I figured without supervision, it probably shouldn't continue. Anyway as I was wrestling with Connor to get him dressed, I could hear Sklyer blowing bubbles in the little bit of water that still remained in the tub. He is so cute!

I realized that I haven't said much about me lately and what I am up to. Well, On Thursdays I play volleyball, and my team just took second in he grass league. Visit my friend, Brittany's Blog, for a picture. I wasn't in it because I got to go see Les Mes at Tuacahn that day with work. David and I also got to go see The Sound of Music. This past week was quite eventful for me, along with seeing Les Mes and Sound of Music, I also got to go up to Girls Camp with my ward (I am still in the Young Womens program, I got released as the Pres, and am now thrilled to be the 2nd counselor) and on Saturday I went for my longest run yet of 6.3 miles. Yeah, it took me like and hour and 20 minutes to do, so not too fast, but I did it. Oh, and I totally BIT it too, on Green Springs Parkway, for those of you not familiar with St. George, it is a pretty busy road in our area. (This is the street for the Washington City freeway exit) This was my first fall running, and I am kinda feeling it today. I have been trying to get back into scrapbooking. I keep busy though, between the twins, work, church stuff, volleyball, etc. I don't have any pictures, sorry, but you probably wouldn't want to see one anyway :)

8 months

The boys are now 8 months old, so here is their update:



Skyler is still just so extremely happy it makes us smile so much. Towards the end of the month he started to clap which was super exciting, and he also started to scoot. So he is catching up with his brother. He is probably around 21-22 pounds, and looks like such a big boy. He is sitting very well on his own, and still likes to talk to himself.







Connor is crawling, or rather, scooting into everything. We can not turn our backs on him for a second. He got his 2 bottom teeth this month, so that was an exciting couple of days. He still has no interest at all in sitting, but why would he want to sit still if he can just crawl everywhere. Connor is also a happy boy weighing in at about 18-19 pounds, he is a lightweight compared to Skyler.





We have taken the boys swimming a couple of times, and they loved it. David was a little upset when I dunked them in the water, but I don't think they minded, though one time Connor came up and had pooped all over, I guess you could say it scared the poop out of him. I did cool to keep them from getting sunburned, but neglected to do the same for myself.






David got them these CUTE Batman PJ's that they just look adorable in, but I lost one of the capes :(
